KENT JUNIOR LEAGUE CHAMPIONS!

1st December 2021

One of only a few truly team events, the Kent Junior League is one of the highlights in the swimming calendar. It is a league competition for 9-13 year olds. Over 2 Divisions, 21 teams battled over 2 rounds resulting in the top 6 clubs competing on Saturday, 20 November at the Finals.

After 3 exciting hours of electrifying racing, RTW Monson were convincingly on top with 215 points, Thanet 196, Bromley 187, Maidstone 166, Kent Weald 149 and Sevenoaks 146 points.

In some truly outstanding racing, the win was down to a real team effort, with most younger swimmers achieving personal best times and the club dominating all six of the under 13 boy events.

Special mention must go to Aran Bissett (13), Max El-Mokadem, (13), Maddie Evans (12) and Emilia Oliver (13), who won two individual events and Chloe Edwards (13), Isabella Jones (11), James Wright (12), Abigail Smiley (12) and Phoenix Clary (9), who came first in an individual event. The latter two were both facing swimmers a year older, which is a huge achievement with such stiff competition.

Karen Bradbury Head of Age Group Swimming at Monson said: “The last time we won this league was 25 years ago and this was a goal for both swimmers and me personally, particularly after the event was cancelled last year. Many of the swimmers have been with us since learn to swim or our development squads, so it is wonderful to see them progress. We are so proud of all the hard work that really paid off and feel it really showcases the current strength of the club.”
